Those collages were made for more complex (or maybe simpler) reasons than making people think about the human condition. I think the fact that most people listen to those collages either sympathetically or ironically makes for an interesting inversion of Sotos' own ideas about what can be considered pornography. Absolutely. The 'human condition' bit was in referencing to why I was posting those links. I can't say that I actually have any idea as to why Bennett included the Sotos pieces, but part of what makes them so interesting is that there are very many ways to approach them. As you've pointed out, there are some fans that approach them sympathetically or ironically, and that they do that is interesting. I love those collages because there's really no answer as to just why they were placed there. Perverse entertainment? Disgust/incredulity at their statements (approaching it like in 'Told'?)? Boredom? That there are so many ways to approach the pieces (and not just one, but three pieces! About 40 minutes worth of material combined!) is what makes them so intriguing. I don't doubt at all that Bennett put them there for reasons beyond what we're allowed to know. Hell, he could've even just put them on those albums to see how we'd react (and indeed, the Sotos pieces have often garnered some of the strongest reactions from Whitehouse fans in regards to the three involved albums)! Just pointing out that I was a bit puzzled as to why cleastolemyheart was taking offense to material that I posted with no bad intentions, when we're talking about it on the message board run by the folks that have released the Sotos collages on their records is all. (Th...that's a really badly constructed sentence...) SO ANYWAY! New links! www.markryden.com/index.html - The website of artist Mark Ryden. Didn't Whitehouse use one of his pieces ('Wound'?) for a record cover, or am I just imagining it? www.g-cans.jp/intro/07photo/index.html - A photo gallery of a complex underground Japanese sewer system. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lina_Medina - Lina Medina, who gave birth to her son at age 5. Huh. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikhail_Evstafiev - Artist/photographer Mikhail Evstafiev. You can view a bunch of his photography by clicking on the wikimedia link at the bottom of the page. One photo in particular ( commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Evstafiev-bosnia-serbs-boy-gun-to-head.jpg) of a father pointing a gun to his son's head and smiling is chilling. www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDqGl9joIbY - Another broadcast hijacking, similar to the Max Headroom and Wyoming incidents. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloop - Bloop. A powerful sound captured from underwater. But what made it? One of the external links ( www.bloopwatch.org/thebloop.html) knows - and it's obviously Cthullu. MP3s are included of the sound clip. www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzi8cZ1I12U - A video of cordyceps, a fungus, sprouting out of insects. I await the human variety. www.damnfunnypictures.com/html/Abandoned-Amusement-Park.html - Photos of an abandoned amusement park. Neat. www.radiosky.com/rjcentral.html - Now this is really cool (if you like this, definitely check out 'Bloop', if you haven't already done so). This site talks about recordings of Jupiter, as well as how you can make your own recordings. Included are sound clips of storms on Jupiter. Maybe it's just me, but I think this is one of the 'neater, cooler' links that I've posted, even though it's actually worthless. ;D I guess that's all I've got for right now. Will post more stuff as I find it. ;D

I've been exploring the radio work of Dan Wilson lately. You've no doubt heard about him from his circuit bending with worms videos on youtube? Anyway, this site has archives of his various radio shows for Resonance FM. So far I've only listened to the last episode of "The Hellebore Shew" but I've instantly become a fan of his odd nervous voice and personality (the love child of Syd Barrett and Crispin Glover?) epistaxis.stodge.org/archives/category/hellebore/I also love this video he made.

This is a clip from the TV series John Safran vs. God, where Safran road-tests vodouism in Haiti (and just a warning that the video contains footage of animal sacrifice): www.youtube.com/watch?v=3l2rFvD9zOIHis road-test of Buddhism is quite good too, and in the final episode he goes to America to get exorcised of all the demons he has 'picked up' during the show.

Luke, interesting pick - that last episode is one of the great pieces of ambiguous art I've seen. To this day, he doesn't admit whether he can remember what happened during his 'exorcism' or whether it was at all put on.

I just found a video of the exorcism: clipblast.com/clip/1802180I haven't looked at this clip yet, so I hope it works.
