Philip, you've mentioned various projects recently including a boxset on Vinyl On Demand as well as new CE material. Is there a timeline yet for when these projects will bear fruit?

Gary,
Thanks for your question.
To be perfectly honest, I've been a bit knocked for six by William's 'Final Act' decision.
I have absolutely no plans for the future, beyond completing these final LAs to the best of my ability.
Everything is entirely amicable, but a little sad for me.
As a fan, I'd rather have one well-oiled band over two dodgy solo projects any day.
Best wishes
PB

After witnessing the intensity and power of Saturday evening's performance, I agree totally. Saturday the 19th will be a sad time for me as I witness you and WB do your thing for the final time. However, I still hope you carry on in some form. Best wishes to you.

ce at no fun fest, looked great: www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Fg65cYJd6Awww.youtube.com/watch?v=retX5J1_csoEXAMPLES OF CANNIBALISM Does PB is involved in that recording ? thats quite a mysterious release, there is very little information regarding it to be found, aside from the fact that it was released on cassette in 1982, and is claimed to be by william bennett and maurizio bianchi. i've never heard philip best being mentioned in connection with it, but as the information above is the only information i have seen regarding it (and even then i'm not 100% sure of that info at all). it's certainly one of the come org's most mysterious releases, perhaps WB or PB could shed some light on it? i've always hoped that it would be included on some volume of the come org CD anthologies... back on topic, that most recent excerpt of PBs scrapbooks is to me one of his strongest. reminds me of his amazing presentations of the "be careful what you wish for" and "works III for genie" ramleh cds. i'm personally very excited by the upcoming "crowd pleaser" ce album...

Not involved in that particular recording, though I've long held it in high esteem.
I was actually picked up by the police one night in the early 80s for playing the tape at particularly high volume on my new-fangled ghetto blaster. I used to troll the streets alone armed with cassette copies of 'EoC', 'Ultrasadism' and 'Live Action 1' (Rock N'Roll sounded particularly fine barrelling down the empty suburban streets).
The policeman dutifully wrote down 'Examples of Cannibalism' in his notebook as he recorded the incident, before letting me on my way. Luckily he didn't ask to see the booklet ;-)
No doubt today there'd be an immediate ASBO issued and I'd have to submit a DNA sample for posterity.
Hard to adequately convey the life-changing effect the early Come Org recordings had on me. I'm still a huge fan and think they're all absolute classics.

Well at your age I'd expect better than to see you trawling through the streets late at night with a ghetto blaster! ;D I guess the modern day equivalent is teens playing grime mp3s through their mobile phones. Not quite as loud but still as annoying and violent.

I was actually picked up by the police one night in the early 80s for playing the tape at particularly high volume on my new-fangled ghetto blaster. hoho, those Blue Remembered Hills ;D Probably around the same era, I used to lug about a ghetto blaster with recordings of the first DAF and Cabs lps on either side of a tape. The sound of which drowned out the approach of local polis when me and a couple of barely adolescent mates got caught drinking a carry-out in the pavillion of the local park. Driving me back to my folks - for "The Harsh Word" - they pressed play on the tape recorder, provoking mucho incredulous Scottish cop banter along the lines of "Call that music? It sounds more like Kildean Slaughterhouse on market day" and "no wonder you're drinking if that's the shite you listen to" ...... Kids these days with their 'personal' stereos don't know what they're missing. etc.

bayros - great anecdote! Moving off the point slightly, I recall in the WH piece in "The Wire", that you and WB were putting together some potential CE material. Do you (and WB) intend to release this at any point, or have you been using this just for your live performances?

Do you (and WB) intend to release this at any point, or have you been using this just for your live performances? As mentioned in the Wire on a Bird thread: I'm currently recording here in Berlin. Three new vocal tracks, 'Crowd Pleaser', 'Cockpit' and 'The Hiding', plus some instrumentals, are in various stages of completion. All are planned for release in 2008. Early versions of these tracks were being tried out in Edinburgh at the time of the Wire piece. I assume they should be on the forthcoming Crowd Pleaser album! Can't wait!

Don't know if it's been noted elsewhere on the forum, but the Invada Records website makes mention of an upcoming Consumer Electronics release. Crowd Pleaser?

Yeah, it was mentioned on Best's blog a while ago, before the No Fun gig. Supposedly Gary Mundy is onboard? Very exciting to me, I hope it actually comes out, haha
