I'd love to know a bit more about the Barcelona years - I sense these were kind of a sabbatical period, from a half memory in an interview in which you recommended anyone to take time off in poss to find out about themselves.
I quit my job earlier this year to focus on various side splinter burner projects and am really enjoying it! Indeed, following a couple of recent glorious trips to Barcelona (during and after Primavera fests, some of the happiest days of my life) I thought to move there...but I actually ended up staying in Brum!
Sabbs have become a bit of a fascination with me (being from Brum ;0) so I'm curious to know what you realised / discovered / learnt / decided / rebboted &c during those years
Thanks!

hi falsedog, too much to answer your question in full, suffice to say that the preceding five years in London were of quite high sacrifice for the sake of music and it felt like a paradigm shift in terms of improved quality of life, on almost every level - many others, if not most, within that whole scene left London around that time for one reason and another; I imagine they felt the same way WB.

James May once described Birmingham as 'The Barcelona of Britain' hahaha. I guess you'll be attending Supersonic then? Yes, I'm performing! Nice, under what name? Falsedog?

Nice quote from James May- unfortunately I don't get it. Does he mean Birmingham is wonderful or Barcelona is horrible? A lot of Fawlty Towers viewers were left with a negative association with Barcelona because of Basil's weekly put down of Manuel. But the city is wonderful! I think Top Gear presenters have a random joke enabler which draws from a databank of phrases like gypsy, geography teacher, mexican, corduroy, astroturf, Northerner &c to raise a laugh from the assembled standing moron crowd.
Anyway, I'll be performing as "Ore" on Sunday in the theatre, part of a doompah tuba trio. Please do come and say hello if you see me after it'll be my last gig with the band!

Ah, yes - I didn't perform as the other two kicked me out of the band about a week before. And DOOMPAH WAS MY IDEA!
