My friend was right in front of the small stage....he didn't notice anything at all....even after the end of the show, while discussing with some NoiseHeadz here and there, nobody talk about that incident...
....by the way Best's show was terrific (with Taylor & Tomkins on sound)....nipple twisting, belly's kissing, scrapbook pages everywhere......vicious and ferocious... ;D
Sarah was not there this time.

The co-promoter Marie Elleestspe was one of those discussing it all on the facebook thing I saw (which I can't access right now). I guess the police visited but didn't stop anything, and some of the crowd was unaware of this drama going on. Bolus said he was stood right next to the kid as he did it, just before SJ came on. Visited Mr. Bolus' FB page ( he has an open profile, but it would still be rude to post anything from it here ) and yeah, the wound looks pretty deep! Not much blood though....Also, how did that pic come about? "Hold still mate, quick photo for Facebook?" Thanks anyway!

Paris seems not a good place to play. In 1993, WH show suffer troubles from one and only punk playing moron whereas the rest of the audience did enjoy the set. Then in 2002, some trouble again between one person and Sotos. This Batofar show was the last with the three of them. Sotos left or was dismissed afterwards. The other shows (2003 & 2006) went well, the venues were "real established venues"...no close contact between the audience and the band.
I can tell that I have made all the Geneva shows during the 90's at l'Ilot 13, it is also a small venue with a small stage, the band plays right in front of the audience....I cannot remember one only incident with the audience...Swiss audience is cool...

This story seems no big deal as I can say that Best was drinking beers at the bar during SJ set, so maybe a few people noticed the incident and rescue the poor guy. Honestly, who come to a gig to commit suicide : there is all the audience to rescue you... Anyway the 3 shows of the 23/02 were great....
....SJ plays a tribute to Popol Vuh the day after at a proper venue...would like to hear it...

I didn't see WH in the 80s myself sadly but saw a few very lively shows with Sotos involved, it was very different in mood and tone after he left, the performances were probably odder and more innovative but the audience behaviour was much more conventional. No doubt if and when Whitehouse returns it will be diferent again. Yes without Sotos the shows were less "dangerous", but the last gigs with Best mostly on all vocals were extremy powerful and intense ! Honestly Sotos has always been a bit scary, even backstage, before or after the show, but it's Sotos...the way he is.

Ok, I'm returning from Paris and (hopefully) have the correct story about this incident : the "cut arm" drama happen during the 24 february show (SJ alone) not the 23 february show (CE/ SJ / Sotos)...hence why my friend who attend the show did not see anything... During the 24 february show, a young guy cut his arm not because of a fight but for personnal reasons, apparently, then the police came in the place while SJ was playing but they did not stop the show, some blood was spilled around the floor and outside of the venue...SJ show was good, not really a Popol Vuh tribute as it seems they play their own tracks...

The line 'CAN'T. TALK. COCK. IN. MOUTH' SITUATION from the recently published History Of Sleepwalking Pt 1 is a Sinead O' Connor reference.
Also "Coming Soon: Sarah Magazine Special "Unaccompanied Minors" (Hand To Mouth 2)." I've no idea what this will be. The 'Sarah magazine' concept is from Sotos 'Comfort & Critique'.

It sounds quite hysterically perverted, can't wait. "Much of what Philip says to his redundant audience is designed to convince them that he is essentially lttle more than a child molester" - PS, Bodyguard.

Lengthy CE interview at dfroide.blogspot.fr/2012/10/df-n166-interview-with-consumer.htmlBest anecdotes: Masami Akita's expectations of UK supermarkets, Whitehouse backstage at Conway Hall. Not as great as the previous 1983 PB French radio interviewI heard but not much on this earth is ("What did you think of the audience last night?" "Horrible. Wankers.").

Nuit et Brouillard / Nacht und Nebel / Night and Fog / Festival in Paris, October 1983,....well, 29 years ago ! It's in the New Wave n°23 fanzine (which had a review of all the festival), I first heard of Whitehouse, year 1986.... ah, the eighties !
