mostly electronic stuff from the 80s. italo-disco, hi-nrg, new wave in general, ndw, cold wave, post punk, industrial dance stuff, ebm, oldschool house, some newer 'electro' or whatever they're calling it now too. right now i'm all about bobby orlando and other super-gay 80s disco.

Of course gay-disco is a totally different thing from dance music in general...

hey! that's insulting, i'm gay, alot of dance music has wider appeal, i just meant the over the top hi-nrg early 80s turns-you-gay just for listening type 80s disco stuff.

Don't mean that as an insult. I find gay-disco nowadays is more interesting than most dance music.

I'm a lifelong metalhead, I'm mostly into black metal, doom/stoner and old school death metal and grindcore. I love old school punk and the weirder side of post punk, think along the lines of Chrome, Flipper and Butthole Surfers. Also particularly fanatical about Ween, Primus, Killing Joke, Dead Can Dance, The Smiths and the Melvins.

Easy listening. Surf. Prog synth. Space rock. Lou Reed's 'Metal Machine Music' (a sly reference to WB's questionable logic in The Wire's Invisible Jukebox - well, clearly it falls into the 'other types of music' category as far as he's concerned ... )

Which MMM do you prefer, Zeitkratzers live impression (my personal favorite, if you have heard it) or the original? Whats 'Space Rock'?

I only know the original 'MMM', but I've heard such good things about the Zeitkratzer take that I should really investigate it. As for a definition of space rock, I guess it depends on who you ask, but for me it's typified by Hawkwind, early Pink Floyd etc. Drifty, epic, synth-driven prog/psych, at it's best when wrapped in some sort of post-'2001' hippy-dippy space theme. There's arguably a pretty significant crossover between space rock and some kosmische music (e.g. the Cosmic Jokers). I'll leave it there, as my definition is in danger of becoming cumbersome rather than snappy.
