I have a question about the "Erector" LP re-issue. I bought it today, brand new, at a local record store and listened to the whole thing all the way through as soon as I got home.
There are quite a few loud 'pops' and 'clicks' throughout all four songs though, that are not part of the actual music. I have "Erector" on CD and the CD recording is free from these 'pops' and 'clicks'. There is nothing wrong my equipment, and I'm wondering if you have heard of this problem with this album before, or did I perhaps somehow get a damaged copy?
It's not unlistenable, the pops and clicks don't interfere with the music too terribly much, but it was a bit of a dissapointment. Any ideas as to whats wrong is appreciated.

I'm not sure exactly what you're referring to, it could be there's an issue with the pressing that you have; also bear in mind that on Whitehouse LPs from Erector to RTK, subsonic frequencies are often employed at around the 5-7hz range that on vinyl can make strange audible sounds (mainly a bit like whispering but also in other ways too) - in the digital format they are barely noticeable
in response to an earlier post about levels; the mastering of vinyl is extremely demanding, more an art than a science, and this is especially true with music as challengingly untypical as this - it's always been a matter of great importance to me from day 1 that this is done well (regardless of cost), and we've been very fortunate to have worked with such highly talented master engineers like George Peckham ('Porky') and Denis Blackham, amongst others

Thanks for your response. I have good speakers hooked up to my turntable but they're not the best, it seems quite possible and likely that the very low bass is what's causing the occasional noise. Either was it's not too bad and I love my Erector LP too much to get in too much of a tizzy about it.
