*He will be 80 in 18 years hahaha *He hasn't even got a beard anymore *Would love to hear Joe's description of the Pure 2 cover! Total Abuse censored it and I'm still curious, don't ask why, it's just been something I've wondered about for so long.

What's this about the Juggalo Summer Reading List? Off topic, but they mocking ICP fans again? Say it ain't so...

It's hard to describe how bewildering and alien the concept of Juggalos is to anyone outside the USA.
danhod, Sotos describes the cover of Pure 2 in lurid detail in more than one of his books. It was interesting to read in Lordotics where he got the cover picture of Total Abuse. I'd love to hear a Morrissey fan describe in their own words the inner back page booklet photo of 'Years of Refusal' and what interpretations they could give of that in conjunction with the cover photo.
Shit piece of journalism in Vice but 'Pure Filth' is a brilliant collaboration which takes the reader through despair and high comedy in turn.

Haven't got round to Lordotics, still reading Pure Filth alongside Selfish Little. Both 'good' so far.
And Juggalos are? ;D

Juggalos are followers of the white hip-hop group Insane Clown Posse, often wearing the same clown makeup as ICP. It's prevalent in small towns across the United States ironically as hip-hop is usually an urban style of music. Juggalos and ICP are pretty much in a class by themselves, although typically the music is violent and vulgar it has a much more uplifting and (one supposes) 'spiritual' message than they get credit for. Juggalos recently caught attention from the FBI as a supposed 'street gang' which ICP are saying they will fight with a lawsuit on behalf of their fans.
I used to mock Juggalos until Sean Beard of Waves Crashing Piano Chords turned me onto ICP and their message. I have heard the Great Milenko so far and although at times it's a bit cheesy they do more with sound design and thematic concepts than most hip-hop today. And probably the better for it, since most rap just spouts about money and blings rather than any true social commentary these days.

Thanks for the description.
Public Enemy being a good example of making a point? Perhaps many modern artists agree with social situations or have came to ignore them. Could just be crowd pleasing, money making with little or no message.
Many jazz artists have rebelled against politicians and stereotypes, which were more accepted in the past. Charles Mingus's Fables of Fabus for example.

Charles Mingus's Fables of Fabus for example. Yeah, it enters the discussion of whether saying anything other than the desire for material concerns is really worthy in a musical medium, seeing how fickle much of today's music is. ICP must be doing something right as they've shown they weren't a flash-in-the-pan, with a still-loyal following. I hear their new album could be the best thing they've released yet, with some veteran rappers making guest appearances no less... Hopefully I'll save enough money to snag a copy.

Vice is not actually known for their accuracy. When they were called the Montreal Voice, they invented a lawsuit from the New York Voice just to get the attention, talked about the Wu-Tang Clan in every issue and later said they were crap.
Hipsters...

Thanks, Sotos's 'Mine' is being rereleased by Nine-Banded Books, about time it was released in an (hopefully) affordable edition.
