Reviews or Reactions? I'm not sure what the best word is!
So, TODAY IS THE BIG DAY!!! How does this new cd compare to Bird Seed, Cruise, Mummy and Daddy etc etc etc. Does it build on those? Are there surprises? Are they getting soft? Will my Mother like it?
Thank you.

I got an e-mail yesterday saying mine had just been airmailed. So obviously I didn't get it today. Odd, as I recall getting "Bird Seed" two days prior to it's official release. Oh well, I'm sure it'll be worth the wait.

received mine this morning too. cheers.
so far, really like it.
no real stands outs for me like say what 'wriggle...' was on Birdseed but some great sounds, again.
'Ruthless Babysitter' is a live favourite so good to get it on cd. 'Dumping...' sounds fucking great too...makes me think of some mad ragga dub soundsystem at points with the vocals, "rise up, rise up" in particular....'Nzambi Ia Lufua' is as beautiful as it is evil.
listened twice today so far...and, getting better with each listen. love it. ta.

i'm a WH fan - have been since early 80's. That said, just listened to Asceticists and don't rate it - comes off as an LP of outtakes from any of the previous 3 releases.
some good noises on there but have been left with the feeling of ' so what, was that it ? ' some angry vocals but i've never really been into that rapid fire machine style of reading loads of words out as quick as possible.
This might change the world of someone who thinks Iron maiden is extreme music but it won't rate as one of WH 's best or classic releases.
I'm still a fan tho'
gotta say, Susan lawly mail order is 1st class - ultra thanks for that

I live in the States and haven't received my copy from SL yet, but for you folks who've heard it, I'm wondering how you'd rate it lyrically

I need to listen to it all a few more times for it to sink in properly but Killing hurts give you the secrets is the track I can't stop playing...no major suprises here, some common threads leeching through from Cruise and Birdseed and certainly not much fun if you don't enjoy the current 'shouty men with their shirts off' incarnation...which I do...a lot...

Word up... I prefer the last three Whitehouse albums to much of their early work, most of which strike me as tedious, though they have their moments.
Still haven't got the new album yet though. Anyone else in the US gotten it yet?

Woke up from a valium/booze induced slumber to find the new album on my door mat.
First impressions were good.
Listened to it twice .
Its not as stand out as the previous two but the lyrics are very strong.
Not much of William Bennett on vocals think only 12-15 lines max across the whole album.
Phil Best vox are great, he sounds so disgusted at everything.
Best track for me was "Ruthless Babysitting".
There is a classic WB vox on "Dumping....." when he snarls out"Rise Up Rise up"
I can just picture that live....ha ha.

ok, i'm trashed... but so far asceticists sounds far more intense, killing hurts keeps escalating in frequency, constantly... kind of like 'cut hands' mixed with the intense bit in downloads "possession' if it continued though the whole song. dans reminds me a lot of 'wriggle'.
more thoughts to come!

dans is like a 'groovier', more tribal 'why you never became a dancer'.
